We had people over for dinner last night, Dave cooked a beautiful piece of pork, with mash and roast veg, oh, it was really lovely! And it was perfectly matched by the mulled cider I made.
Nothing warms the cockles of your heart like a warm Christmassy drink, and although we love mulled wine, spiced cider is certainly our favourite.
2 apples covered in cloves.
2-4 cinnamon sticks
1lt apple juice
rind of one orange
1 cup of sugar
2 measures of dark rum (optional)
Bring all the ingredients to heat on the hob, but don't let them boil. Let them simmer away for 10-15 minutes and serve in your favourite Christmas mugs.
Serves 8-10 portions (i.e. 4-5 people)
